The artists in this show communicate via a medley of visual languages and narrative theses. Employing a vast range of storytelling techniques, they play with varying levels of opacity in how (and how much) is revealed. The key is in that range itself—from thick to thin, hazy to sharp, secretive to divulgent, symbolic to literal, an optical and narrative push and pull exists between the works. Situated in Sidecar, a new space in Los Angeles that features a diversity of ideas, positions, and authors, this tapestry of artists, with their intertwined stories, will invite compelling conversation.
